Flights and holidays to Halifax

Halifax map

Halifax doesn't often spring to mind as an excellent city break destination; however we think it is one of Canada's best kept secrets, and perfect for a city break with an edge. Providing you with a base to explore the enchanting coastlines of the Maritimes and quaint colourful towns of Nova Scotia, Halifax is a vibrant and cultural city, so you can really enjoy the best of both worlds.

Nova Scotia is Atlantic Canada's most popular and vibrant province, and home of the bustling port city of Halifax. The history surrounding this area is enchanting and a must is a visit to Pier 21, Canada's Museum of Immigration where 1.5million immigrants from Europe, Britain and Ireland passed through from 1928-71 seeking new lives and grand opportunities in Canada. Perhaps you have some distant relatives that you can trace back for a really unique day out.

Staying in Halifax you are in the perfect position to explore some of the most scenic coastal landscapes and impressive natural wonders. Take a trip to Peggy's Cove Coastal Region just 30-minutes drive from Halifax on Nova Scotia's Bluenose Coast, dubbed by the locals as Mother Nature's Playground. Encompassing the shores of the lovely St. Margaret's Bay, walk around and discover the scenic coves, harbour and natural beauty, and enjoy a whole host of outdoor and water activities on offer.

Halifax Things To Do

Pier 21 should be at the top of your list of things to do in Halifax. It is Canada’s Museum of Immigration, where 1.5 million immigrants from Europe, Britain and Ireland passed through from 1928-71 seeking new lives and grand opportunities in Canada. Many travelled far and wide, and you never know, you may be able to trace a distant relative of your own who made the enormous journey all those years ago.

Take a trip to Peggy’s Cove Coastal Region which is just a scenic 30-minute journey outside the city. Located on Nova Scotia’s Blue Nose Coast, the locals call this area Mother Nature’s Playground as the scenery is so spectacular. Encompassing the shores of the lovely St. Margaret’s Bay, walk around and discover the scenic coves, harbour and natural beauty, and enjoy a whole host of outdoor and water activities on offer.

During your stay a trip to the Halifax Farmers’ Brewery Market is a must too, as it is the oldest farmers’ market in North America. An incredible experience, the market is filled with great finds, organic produce, locally crafted jewellery, clothes and more.
