Car Hire - Important Information and Rental Conditions.
Below please see your full car hire terms and conditions, you must read, understand and agree to these conditions before confirming your car hire booking with Canadian Affair. These conditions are in addition to the booking terms and conditions you agree to when making a Canadian Affair booking.
If you wish to book a car hire with Canadian Affair and do not wish to purchase flights you will incur a £50 administration booking fee.

NOTE: There is a £15 per week or £3 per day surcharge for National Car Hire bookings which commence from a Vancouver rental location. You will be contacted by a member of the Canadian Affair team in order to collect this charge after your booking is made. This charge is an addition to that paid for your rental.
Lead Driver - It is imperative that your Canadian Affair booking is booked under the name of the main / lead driver.
Car Hire
Collection
Voucher – You will be sent a car hire voucher with your Canadian Affair Travel Itinerary, you must ensure that you receive this voucher and present it at the time of car hire collection. You must collect & return your car hire to the depot confirmed on your car hire voucher.
Credit Card - The lead driver must present a major credit card (Visa/MasterCard) at the point of car hire collection. Failure to do so will result in your being unable to collect your car hire and full loss of monies paid.
Drivers License – You must hold a valid full UK drivers license and present this upon the collection of your car hire. If you hold a new style UK license you must present this with both the paper section and photocard. Failure to do so will result in your being unable to collect your car hire and full loss of monies paid.
ROADSIDE PLUS (RSP)
RSP is available in all Canadian locations. RSP includes the following:
Key replacement: replacement keys or a locksmith will be sent
Flat Tire: if the vehicle’s spare tire is installed and serviceable, it will be installed to replace a flat tire. If no inflated spare tire is available, the vehicle will be towed in accordance with the towing provision.
Towing: Towing charges will be covered at no additional cost should the vehicle be inoperable.
Jump start: A battery boost will be provided in an attempt to start the vehicle.
Lockout service: If the keys are locked inside the vehicle, service will be sent to gain entrance.
Fuel delivery: A limited supply of gasoline will be delivered to the vehicle to enable you to reach the nearest open service station. (Up to three gallons or equivalent liters).
(RSP) is void and of no effect if, at the time of the incident necessitating roadside assistance, the renter (or an Authorized Driver) were in violation of the rental agreement (as signed upon car hire collection), including, without limitation, the Prohibited Uses and Violations set forth therein. In such cases, roadside assistance will be available, but standard charges may apply.
Driving Regulations
Age Restrictions - The minimum age for a driver is 21 years with one exception. With National in Newfoundland the minimum driver’s age is 25 years. Avis has a minimum drivers age of 25 years for the following car types - (Minivan, 4x4 (all types), Convertible, Luxury. All drivers under 25 years will be subject to a daily surcharge (currently $27.00* per day payable locally).
Additional Drivers - If you have not chosen a car hire package which includes additional drivers and wish to add an additional driver to your rental at the point of car hire collection there a charge of $25.00* per day (up to 3 additional drivers are permitted only), Age Restrictions apply.
Loss Damage Waiver - In the Fully Inclusive package the renter is liable for a $500* excess ($300* with National). National & Hertz rentals in Whitehorse & Newfoundland = $1500*, Jasper = $1000*, Yellowknife = $2000*, Thunder Bay = $2000*. Avis rentals in the Fully Inclusive package the renter is liable for a $300* excess for economy, compact, intermediate and full size rentals; $500* for all other car groups.
Zero Excess - If included in your car hire package, it contractually waives or limits the renter's responsibility for damage to or loss of the vehicle, by reducing the LDW excess to zero. Excluded from zero excess is damage to windscreens, tyres, underside of car, interior & keys. Damage to the car where the renter is at fault, the driver will incur charges for pick up and tow back to rental location. If you wish to upgrade your Fully Inclusive package to include Zero Excess please call.
Taxes - Local and government taxes will be payable for any fees / charges paid locally.
One-way rentals - One way rentals are allowed on rentals of 2 days or more. One way rentals are not allowed on compact (Avis), Economy and convertible cars. Unless covered by our free one way drop off agreement, a charge will apply to any one way rental; details of which were advised at the time of booking and will be printed on your car hire voucher, which you will receive 4-6 weeks prior to travel.
Fuel - Your car will be provided with a full tank of fuel at collection (Avis & Hertz), if your package does not include a free tank of fuel you are responsible for refueling at the end of your rental. National – if the option package does not include fuel, your car will be presented with a full tank of fuel that you will pay for at the time of collection at the daily market rate; you return the car with an empty tank. No refunds given on partial tanks returned.
Road Tolls - The use of Toll Roads whilst in Canada will incur a direct toll charge by your rental company.
Unlimited Mileage*** - Rental packages include Unlimited Mileage. Except for National rentals in Jasper, Regina, Whitehorse; Hertz in Red Deer, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Thunder Bay, New Foundland & Avis rentals in Medicine Hat, Prince Albert, Sudbury, Grand Prairie, Thunder Bay & Timmins. Please ask for more information if you are collecting a car hire from these locations**.
Winter/ Snow Tyres - Car rental companies do not provide winter/snow tyres.
Further Important Information - Minimum rental is 1 day (except Hertz which is 2 days, and National/ Min Rental on the Enhanced Super fully Package is 4 days/On the Fully and Super Fully Packages only Min rental is 1 day and on one ways is 2 days). Maximum rental contract is 30 days (except Hertz which is 62 days). Child seats must be requested in advance and carry a charge of $13.00 plus deposit, payable locally. Roof/Ski Racks must be requested in advance and carry a local charge.
Vehicles can be driven in the USA but must not be driven into Mexico. One way rentals to the USA are not permitted. Off-road restrictions apply. Should you wish to extend your car hire whilst on holiday, please contact us directly where you will be charged at the current price subject to availability; it is necessary to provide your local car hire rental agreement number.
