Car Hire: Information and Terms and Conditions

Terms & Conditions for Rentals Taking Place in Canada

Note:

The person who will be the lead driver, must have the car booking in their name and they must present a valid Credit Card at time of car hire pick up (no other card type acceptable) and both parts of their UK driving licence.

Driving Regulations: Minimum age is 21.

In Newfoundland minimum age is 25. All drivers under 25 will be subject to a daily charge (currently $25 per day payable locally). All drivers must possess a valid Full driving licence (both paper and Card required), passport, a major credit card for deposit/security purposes and a pre-paid Canadian Affair voucher. Additional drivers will be charged at the rate of $10 per day (up to 3 additional drivers are allowed free as part of the Enhanced Fully Inclusive programme).

Loss Damage Waiver:

In the Fully Inclusive option the renter is liable for a $300 excess, except in Jasper it is $1000, Whitehorse and Newfoundland it is $1,500 and Yellowknife it is $2,000 Any excess claim for damage or loss remains the renter's responsibility. Zero Excess or Peace of Mind coverage will be offered locally. It contractually waives or limits the renter's responsibility for damage to or loss of the vehicle, by reducing the LDW excess. This is not compulsory.

Taxes:

Taxes are included in these rates. Other taxes may be payable depending on your pickup or drop-off locations.

One-way rentals:

Vehicles must be returned to the pick up point unless booked as a one-way. Unless covered by our free one-way agreement (see opposite) there is a one-way charge, details can be obtained from your Canadian Affair consultant. The minimum rental for one-way vehicles is 2 days. Economy Cars (ECAR) and convertible (STAR) are not available for one-way rentals. One way drops are not permitted between certain locations.

Fuel:

If the option package does not include fuel, your car will be presented with a full tank of fuel that you will pay at the time of collection at the daily market rate, and you can return the car with an empty tank. No refunds given on partial tanks returned.

Further Information:

Minimum rental is 1 day, maximum rental is 30 days. No refund is given on partially used rentals. Child seats must be requested at the time of reservation and carry a charge of $6.99 per day plus a $50 deposit, payable locally. Roof racks carry a local charge. Vehicles may not be driven into Mexico and off-road restrictions apply. Road tolls may be charged locally.

Note:

If you start your rental of ANY car type in Banff or Yellowknife you get unlimited free mileage, Jasper is limited to 100km per day, Brockville or Whitehorse the limit is 200km per day. One way drop off fee (if applicable) is not included in the rental price.

Please note at the following locations; Brockville, Comox, Courtney, Deer Lake, Duncan, Fredericton, Gander, Jasper, Kamloops, Kelowna, Moncton, Nanimo, Newfoundland, North Vancouver, Port Aux Basques, Port Hardy, Prince Rupert, Prince George, Quensel, Smithers, St. Anthony, St. John, St. Johns, Stephenville, Terrace, Victoria, Whitehorse, Williams Lake. Yellowknife - there is a surcharge of £12 per day. This must be paid at time of booking.

ROADSIDE PLUS (RSP)

RSP is available in all Canadian locations.. RSP includes the following:

• Key replacement: replacement keys or a locksmith will be sent
• Flat Tire: if the vehicle’s spare tire is installed and serviceable, it will be installed to replace a flat tire. If no inflated spare tire is available, the vehicle will be towed in accordance with the towing provision.
• Towing: Towing charges will be covered at no additional cost should the vehicle be inoperable.
• Jump start: A battery boost will be provided in an attempt to start the vehicle.
• Lockout service: If the keys are locked inside the vehicle, service will be sent to gain entrance.
• Fuel delivery: A limited supply of gasoline will be delivered to the vehicle to enable you to reach the nearest open service station. (Up to three gallons or equivalent liters).

RSP is void and of no effect if, at the time of the incident necessitating roadside assistance, the renter (or an Authorized Driver) were in violation of the rental agreement, including, without limitation, the Prohibited Uses and Violations set forth therein. In such cases, roadside assistance will be available, but standard charges may apply.
