This fly drive offers the very best of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. The tour begins in the historic and culturally diverse city of Halifax and takes you on a relaxing and picturesque journey through Nova Scotia's fishing villages and rugged coastal landscapes to some of the most quaint and remote areas in Eastern Canada such as the Bay of Fundy, Cape Breton and Bras d'Or Lake. Day 1 - Arrival in HalifaxArrive at Halifax airport and pick up your car hire for your exciting maritime trip, then head to your hotel. Once settled in, the rest of the day is yours to enjoy some sightseeing, shopping, or to relax for tomorrow's adventure. Spend the night in your Halifax hotel. Day 2 - HalifaxHalifax is an extremely historical city, with plenty to see. Spend the day exploring the many museums in the city, or investigate the harbour waterfront area on a cruise onboard Bluenose II. The night will be spent in Halifax. Day 3 - Halifax to Western Shore (140 km)Drive along the Lighthouse Route to the fishing community of Peggy's Cove. Continue along the coast and discover Nova Scotia's hidden treasures, and spend the night on the Western Shore. Day 4 - Western Shore to KejimkujikNational Park/Digby (165 km) Continue along the coast today and stop in the port of Lunenburg for a visit to the renowned Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic. Traverse along the rugged scenic coastlines where you can take in breathtaking views across the ocean and discover quaint fishing areas along the way to Kejimkujik National Park. The night will be spent in Digby. Day 5 - DigbyToday is your tour to Brier Island. Take a Whale and Seabird Cruise where you will see many species including: dolphins, porpoises and whales. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this picture-postcard fishing port with its bustling harbour of Digby, Nova Scotia's most popular summer destination. Day 6 - Digby to Truro (300 km)Drive along Nova Scotia's northern shore and admire the Bay of Fundy, world-famous for its extreme tides. On your way through this beautiful stretch of land, you can visit historic landmarks and learn more about Nova Scotia's Scottish, Acadian and native heritage. Spend the night in Truro. Day 7 - Truro to Charlottetown (130 km)Make your way to Pictou, the “Birthplace of New Scotland”, and explore the surrounding area. Take the ferry from here across the Northumberland Strait to Prince Edward Island. Arrive in the charming city of Charlottetown, the “Cradle of Canada's Confederation.” Spend the night in Charlottetown. Day 8 - CharlottetownYour day is at leisure to explore the Victorian homes and elegant squares of Charlottetown, the commercial hub of the Island. Spend the night in Charlottetown. Day 9 - Charlottetown to Antigonish (160 km)Return to Nova Scotia via the Northumberland Strait, and drive along the North Shore Drive, through tranquil scenery and small communities. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore the beautiful surrounding areas. Spend the night in Antigonish. Day 10 - Antigonish to Cape Breton HighlandsNational Park (280 km) Drive along the northern shore of Cape Breton Island and enjoy the magnificent scenery. Take the Cabot Trail into the highlands of northern Cape Breton. Make your way to Ingonish Beach overlooking the Middle Head Peninsula. Spend the night in Cape Breton Highlands. Day 11 - Cape Breton Highlands National Park toSydney (145 km) Continue southbound on the Cabot Trail passing charming Maritime communities. Make your way to Sydney, the second-largest urban centre in Nova Scotia and entry point for ferries from Newfoundland. Spend the night in Sydney. Day 12 - SydneyToday is at leisure to explore the historic city of Sydney, originally known as Spanish Bay. You can also explore the delightful resort community of Baddeck where a fascinating museum is dedicated to the life and works of Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone. Spend the night in Sydney. Day 13 - Sydney to Liscomb Mills (270 km)Discover the eastern part of Cape Breton Island by circumnavigating the great inland sea of Bras d'Or Lake and tour the Fortress of Louisburg. Continue on the Marine Drive, a very scenic route with great natural habitats, beach parks and rugged coastlines along Nova Scotia's eastern Atlantic coast. Spend the night in Liscombe Mills. Day 14 - Liscomb Mills to Halifax (175 km)Breakfast included. If time allows, make your way to the Liscombe Game Sanctuary, a 250-squarekilometre area encompassing stands of virgin Nova Scotian forest and an abundance of wildlife, such as moose, deer, mink and muskrat. Follow the Marine Drive back to Halifax International Airport to check-in for your return flight.
