First Passage to the West

(Formerly Kicking Horse Route)

Named for the pass over which it crosses the Canadian Rockies, this train route takes you between Vancouver, British Columbia, and either Banff or Calgary, Alberta. This route traces the historic transcontinental rail line that united Canada's East and West and includes, amongst other highlights, the legendary Spiral Tunnels.

Eastbound 23 Apr – 5 Oct, selected Mon, Tues, Fri
Westbound 25 Apr – 7 Oct, selected Sun, Wed & Thur
Day 1 - Vancouver to Kamloops. Board the Rocky Mountaineer and pass through the Fraser River Valley and the Coast Mountains before entering Fraser Canyon and seeing the turbulence of Hell's Gate. Overnight in Kamloops.
Day 2 - Kamloops to Banff or Calgary. Journey South along the Thompson River to Shuswap Lake. Pass Craigellachie and through Rogers Pass, on to Kicking Horse Pass, the Spiral Tunnels and over the Continental Divide to Banff National Park. End your tour here or continue to Calgary.

Journey through the Clouds

(Formerly Yellowhead Route)

Journey between Vancouver, British Columbia, and the picturesque resort town of Jasper, Alberta, along the Yellowhead Route, named for a second pass through the Canadian Rocky Mountains. This rail route is known for scenic valleys, plentiful wildlife including bears, and majestic Mount Robson, highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.

Westbound 25 Apr – 7 Oct, selected Thur, Sun
Day 1 - Vancouver to Kamloops. Board the Rocky Mountaineer and pass through the Fraser River Valley and the Coast Mountains before entering Fraser Canyon and seeing the turbulence of Hell's Gate. Overnight in Kamloops.
Day 2 - Kamloops to Jasper. Follow the Thompson River into the Monashee. Mountains. View Pyramid Falls and climb over the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. Pass Mt. Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies. Late afternoon arrival in Jasper.

Rainforest to Gold Rush

(Formerly Fraser Discovery Route)

This route follows the Fraser River and links the mountain resorts of Whistler, British Columbia, and Jasper, Alberta. Journey through the historic Caribou Gold Rush region, the lush forests of northern B.C. and the awe-inspiring Rocky Mountain Trench past Mount Robson to Jasper.

Westbound 12 May – 15 Sept, selected Wed
Day 1 - Whistler to Quesnel. Board the Rocky Mountaineer and enjoy the varied scenery from the shorelines of Anderson Lake to the sweeping views of the Fraser Canyon and along the Fraser River into Quesnel. Overnight in Quesnel.
Day 2 - Quesnel to Jasper. Journey eastward through Prince George and climb past Mount Robson, along the Yellowhead Pass into Jasper National Park. The journey ends on arrival in Jasper.
