1) Do I need travel insurance?
We would highly recommend you have travel insurance as medical treatment in North America can be very expensive. Canadian Affair offer fully comprehensive insurance at very competitive prices, if you have cover already with a bank, credit card or other company, please check that it covers you for Canada and that the level of medical cover is adequate. Canadian Affair’s insurance also covers you for missed departures and missed connections which not many other policies include. This is only available to passengers who have booked with Canadian Affair and we recommend that you arrange your insurance at the time of flight booking so that you are covered should anything happen before your holiday. Please contact us for more information.
2) What happens if I fall ill on holiday?
If you have taken Canadian Affair travel insurance you will have a 24 hour emergency contact number that on calling will deal with your case immediately and ensure you are treated promptly. This will also include changing flight arrangements and contacting others if this should this be needed.
3) I am pregnant, when can I travel up to?
We always recommend that you talk to your doctor or health visitor before travelling when pregnant. There is no medical evidence that flying affects you or your baby however as every pregnancy is different, please make sure you are happy and healthy before considering flying. From the 28th week of pregnancy until the 33rd week you will only be allowed to fly with an up to date Doctors letter confirming both the stage of pregnancy and fitness to fly. We do not fly any pregnant women beyond the 34th week of pregnancy on Thomas Cook Airlines.
Expectant mothers may travel on Air Transat flights up to 35 weeks without restriction. From 36-38 weeks they must present a Doctor's certificate issued within the 24 hours prior to departure. From 39 weeks, they will not be accepted on any Air Transat flights.
4) I have just had a baby… how old does he/she need to be before I can fly with him/her?
Once your baby is older than 7 days there is no hard and fast rule on the age a baby can fly, but we do recommend that you talk to your doctor and or health visitor before considering flying with your newborn.
5) Does Canadian Affair carry unaccompanied minors?
Air Transat do carry unaccompanied minors. This must be advised at the time of booking.
Thomas Cook Airlines does not permit the carriage of unaccompanied minors – persons under the age of 16 years. Any child under age of 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 years or older.
