Banff - An Overview

Banff is a beautiful mountain town nestled in an idyllic setting in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains.

The town itself is buzzing with a myriad of activities on offer, no matter the season, and is also the perfect base to enjoy three of the best ski resorts in Alberta. You will be captivated by the stunning scenic back drop; you are guaranteed to fall in love with Banff.

The Big Three

As well as the perfect Rocky Mountain setting and quaint town, Banff is also ideally situated within a short distance of three of Canada's finest ski resorts, Mount Norquay, Sunshine Village & The Lake Louise Ski Area which are suitably named 'The Big 3'.

On just one tri-area ski lift pass, you can enjoy all three resorts with over 8,000 acres of varied skiable terrain; perfect for beginners and experts alike! With free transport between the town and the resorts when you purchase a tri-area lift pass and with a wealth of activities on offer, Banff is the perfect location for an incredible winter holiday for skiers and non-skiers too!

We recommend visiting all three resorts while you are staying in Banff, as they all offer unique experiences and terrain with stunning views across Banff National Park. Mount Norquay is the closest to the town centre whilst nearby Sunshine Village is Canada's highest elevated resort as well as being Alberta's premier ski-in, ski-out resort.

Mount Norquay was made most famous for its downhill courses and was the training ground for the Olympic and World Cup athletes, but its small family friendly atmosphere also makes it the perfect location for beginners too.

The Lake Louise Ski Area is the largest of the three with four mountain faces and more expert level courses to challenge you. The view from the Peak is spectacular, looking over to Lake Louise itself, across glaciers and forests.

The fun and friendly locals, first class ski school and amazing snowfall levels will have you falling in love with all three resorts!

Activities

The town of Banff itself is bursting with fun après ski and attractions to visit if you don't want to spend all of your time on the slopes or are a non-skier.

There are lots to choose from such as the Banff Gondola, the Canadian Ski Museum, shopping, theatre, cinema and so much more! We recommend visiting the Banff Hot Springs where you can relax enjoying the stunning scenery from the hotel natural springs.

The nightlife in Banff is fantastic too with a massive range of places to eat so you can tuck into some delicious world famous Alberta steak, and also a wide range of trendy bars and clubs to party the night away in too!
