The newest beast to put Toronto sport on the map is the Toronto Wolfpack. Unlike the Blue Jays or the Maple Leafs, this Toronto team doesn’t play Canada’s usual national sports of baseball and ice hockey. Instead, the Wolfpack plays professional Rugby League games against Britain’s own and is the world’s first transatlantic major professional sports team. The team represents a huge achievement for Toronto and a welcome injection of across-the-pond excitement for the UK’s Rugby League.
If you’d like to see the Wolfpack play, check out our holiday packages which include return flights to Toronto, hotels and match tickets:
Who are the Toronto Wolfpack?
The Toronto Wolfpack began their journey in 2017 and this year will be competing in the Betfred Championship for the first time. All their home games take place in Toronto’s Lamport Stadium, dubbed “The Den”. Located in the heart of Canada’s biggest city which is renowned for its lively shopping, dining and nightlife, we can think of worse places to watch your UK team play away!
Partnering with Air Transat
The Canadian international airline, Air Transat are the Wolfpack’s official sponsors, which is where Canadian Affair gets involved. Together with Air Transat, we’ve put together flights and packages between Toronto and the UK to help all Rugby League fans get to see their team play the Wolfpack, both home and away.
The Wolfpack themselves say, “We aspire to create a global centre for rugby excellence in Toronto. We proudly support family run local businesses, while championing UK-Canadian trade.” Good news for all lovers of Rugby League – and of course, for anyone who fancies turning their fans Away games into a cheeky holiday.

Seeing Toronto
If you’re visiting to see a match, you’ll want to make the most of your time in Toronto too. It’s such an incredible city and lends itself perfectly to a weekend of sightseeing. Our favourite attractions to take in during your weekend are:
The CN Tower
This behemoth is located right in the heart of Downtown, just near to the Toronto Blue Jays baseball club. The iconic CN Tower has a revolving restaurant, a viewing platform and even an EdgeWalk. Strap yourself into a harness and walk around the outside edge of the tower for a truly thrilling experience!
Ripley’s Aquarium of Toronto
Ripley’s Aquarium is located at the base of the CN Tower so is a great option to combine with a trip up the tower itself. The aquarium is beloved of all age groups thanks to its enormous enclosures. Sharks swim right overhead in the glass tunnels, while more than 16,000 aquatic animals from stingrays to jellyfish are on display.
St. Lawrence Market
This foodie hub is a great way to tuck into Toronto’s incredible food scene. The St Lawrence Market occupies an imposing Victorian building which is full to the brim inside with independent traders. From fruit and veg to street food and pastries, there are plenty of free samples here and lots of lunch options.
Toronto Islands
This park consists of three main islands just a 10-minute ferry ride from downtown Toronto. A network of paths, bridges and boardwalks connect the Toronto Islands, which are filled with quiet forests, tranquil beaches and care-free picnic spots. It’s a great place for walking and cycling. There is a maze, award-winning gardens and even an amusement park.
