The Lazy Bear Lodge is located in the town of Churchill, northern Manitoba. Situated where both polar bears and beluga whales migrate, Churchill offers a unique and unrivalled viewing experience for wildlife enthusiasts. Add northern lights and scenic views from the shores of Hudson Bay, and Churchill makes the perfect location for a holiday of a lifetime.
Since 1999, the Lazy Bear Lodge is more than just a place to sleep, the hand-built lodge has a rich history and offers a unique stay during your arctic adventure. The lodge offers countless activities such as storytelling by local Indigenous staff and incredible Northern Lights viewing opportunities amongst others. Experience the Lazy Bear Café during your stay for delicious food cooked with available local ingredients.
In summer, you can view beluga whales from the new flagship vessel the Matonabee, which is the only vessel in the world offering underwater viewing of polar bears migrating on the shores of Hudson Bay. Available in both summer and autumn, the Arctic Crawler is a custom-built vehicle that allows you to explore the tundra of the Churchill Wildlife Management Area in search of Polar Bears, Arctic Fox, and other wildlife.

Arrive in Winnipeg
The first night of your Lazy Bear Expeditions package will be in Manitoba’s largest city; Winnipeg. Transfer independently from Winnipeg Airport to downtown and check in for your overnight stay. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore the city. Winnipeg has lots to offer such as the famous Canadian Museum for Human Rights and the beautiful Union Station that was built by the same architectural firm responsible for Grand Central Terminal in New York City, amongst many other attractions.
