Immerse yourself in the heart of polar bear country
The town of Churchill is situated on the shores of the Hudson Bay and for centuries it was a place where various cultures met and traded. Today, the town is well known for one of its key residents, the polar bear. Although some areas of the arctic have ice year-round where polar bears can hunt, Churchill isn’t one of them. The ice throughout Hudson Bay melts and therefore, polar bears are forced to stay ashore during summer months. During that time, they will not be actively hunting and will survive on their fat reserves. In the fall, once the ice starts to form again, polar bears gather along the coast until they can start hunting on the ice once again. This makes Churchill the perfect location for viewing access.
The Tundra Buggy Lodge offers a unique set up for an incomparable immersive experience. Set up far away from the town of Churchill, the lodge consists of several vehicles parked in the middle of the tundra for optimal wildlife and northern lights viewing. The lodge can accommodate up to 40 guests in two accommodation units and offers a lounge and a dining hall. Equipped with exterior field lights, you will be able to spot wildlife even after sunset!

Arrive in Winnipeg
After a long day of travelling to Winnipeg, you will check in at your airport hotel and have the rest of the day at leisure to rest. If you arrive early, head to downtown and visit the key attractions the city has to offer. In the evening, you will meet with your Frontiers North Adventures interpretive guide and your fellow passengers for a brief evening orientation of your upcoming adventure in Churchill.
