In the area
It is a short five-minute drive to the centre of Nanaimo, which is a pleasant place to wander, with a good selection of shops – from big name brands to quirky independent boutiques, plenty of restaurants and a blossoming arts scene with many galleries showcasing work from both local and national artists.
Hire a canoe and head out onto the water to explore the harbour or the shores of nearby Newcastle Island, and for a real adventure, you can even spend the night camping on the island.
There are also several pretty beaches in the area, excellent for swimming, windsurfing and snorkelling.
