In the area
With the harbour so conveniently close, a boat tour is a must, offering whale watching, bear spotting, fishing and sightseeing trips. You can also hire a kayak and head off to explore the waters yourself.
It is a short stroll along the coast to Port Hardy, a town rich in First Nations heritage with many wood carvings and murals around its streets and several galleries and studios where you can watch local artists at work.
The Port Hardy Museum provides an interesting insight into the history of the area, and there are also many coffeehouses, bistros and local shops along the main street.
