*Excludes the following car groups and locations:
- Minivan and Standard SUV for pick-ups from ANY location from 1st April 2023 onwards. Kilometres are capped at 200km/day, 1400km/week, 4800km/month. Additional km will be paid locally directly to Avis and will be charged $0.25/per kilometre.
- All rentals, regardless car group, originating from Grand Prairie, Medicine Hat, Prince Albert, Sudbury, Thunder Bay and Timmins. $0.25 per additional km is payable locally.
All Avis car hire bookings made through us are subject to availability and are on request status until you receive the car voucher via email.
In the event we are unable to secure your requested vehicle we will offer the nearest alternative at the associated price or offer you a full refund.
There is a minimum rental term of 48 hours. Any car hire request shorter than this will be rejected.
It is imperative that your car hire booking is booked under the name of the main / lead driver.
Named lead driver MUST present the following three pieces of information at time of car hire collection (failure to do so will result in you being unable to collect your car hire and full loss of monies paid):
1. Driver’s License: Driving licenses should be written in English or be issued in the EU. If they are not, you will need an International driver's license. Please supply both the original and the international license together. Canadian and US licenses are not accepted for lead drivers only for any additional drivers*.
All driving licenses must include:
- The driver/s details
- The class of vehicle you are authorized to drive
- Any restrictions imposed
*Any additional drivers would also be required to present a valid driver’s license and major credit card. Additional identification is not required.
2. Credit Card: The lead driver must present a major credit card (Visa/MasterCard) at the point of car hire collection. Additional identification is not required.
Security deposit – a refundable deposit will be held by the supplier which is payable by credit card until the safe return of the vehicle. Please ensure you have available credit for this holding fee.
3. Voucher: You will be sent a car hire voucher with your travel itinerary (4-6 weeks prior to travel). You must ensure that you receive this voucher and present it at the time of car hire collection. You must collect & return your car hire to the depot confirmed on your car hire voucher. No refund is given on partially used rentals or for late pickup.
The minimum driver’s age is 21 years.
There is a minimum driver’s age of 25 years for Standard SUV, Premium SUV, Minivan and Luxury only.
All drivers 21-24 years will be subject to a daily surcharge of $25CAD per day + taxes & surcharges payable locally.
Units are available for rent; please call for further information and to book.
If the additional driver is a spouse or common law partner living at the same address, there will be no charges to add on a spouse or common law partner.
If you have chosen a car hire package which does not include additional drivers and wish to add an additional driver to your rental at the point of car hire collection, there will be a charge of $10CAD per day, $50CAD per week, $100CAD Maximum charge per driver. This will be payable locally plus taxes (up to 3 additional drivers are permitted).
The additional drivers must be at least 25 years old.
A major credit card will be required for all additional drivers. Debit cards and pre-paid credit cards are not accepted.
If included in your car hire package, it contractually waives or limits the renter's responsibility for damage to or loss of the vehicle, by reducing the LDW excess to zero. Excluded from zero excess is damage to windscreens, tyres, underside of car, interior & keys.
Damage to the car where the renter is at fault, the driver will incur charges for pickup and tow back to rental location.
Avis car rental on the Fully Inclusive package includes zero excess.
The Roadside Assistance will cover for items not included in the rental insurance. This is available as a local charge at all depot counters:
- Lost Keys
- Battery Boost
- Towing of vehicle (excluding if the client got into a collision)
- Gas delivery (up to 3 gallons)
- Tire replacement
One way rentals are allowed on rentals of 2 days or more. One way rentals are not allowed on Economy and Convertible cars.
Unless covered by our free one way drop off agreement, a charge will apply to any one way rental; details of which will be advised at the time of confirming your booking. You will receive your voucher 4-6 weeks prior to travel.
The fuel tank will be full or part-full when you pick your car up, you are responsible for replacing the fuel you have used at the end of your rental. If the fuel level is lower than it was at the beginning of your rental you will be charged for the extra fuel at the local Avis depot rate.
Local and government taxes will be payable for any fees / charges paid locally.
The use of toll roads whilst in Canada will incur a direct toll charge by your rental company.
Winter tyres (snowflake icon on sidewall) or chains are required by law for travel on Hwy #93N / Icefields Parkway and Hwy #93S (Banff-Windermere Highway in Banff National Park and Kootenay National Park. Alberta) between November 1 and March 31 or any other period during which the highway is covered with snow or ice. All-season tyres are not adequate.
In Quebec, winter tyres will be installed on every vehicle between November and April.
Winter tyre charges vary per region from $14.00 - $20.00 per day or up to $420 maximum charge + taxes and surcharges. Winter tyres are only available at airport locations. All other provinces have vehicles equipped with all-season tyres.
Snow chains cost $15.00 per day, $105.00 weekly, $315 maximum charged + taxes and surcharges where available for rent. Use of snow chains is only advised for those experienced in using them.
Costs and fees are subject to change.
Child seats must be requested in advance and carry a charge of $13.00 per day, $65.00 weekly, $99.00 for maximum rental + taxes & surcharges for each car seat.
A child must have a seat if they are under 4ft 9in or weigh under 40lbs or under 12 years old. 8-12 year olds can have a lap and shoulder belt if they are over 4ft 9in and weigh more than 40lbs.
There can be a maximum of two cars seats installed within a vehicle.
There are three types of car seats that can be requested:
- Infant Seats: 2 - 20 lbs / 2.27 – 9.07kgs
- Toddler Seats: 20- 40 lbs / 9.07 – 18.16kgs
- Child Seats: 40 - 80 lbs / 18.16 – 36.32kgs
Ski racks must be requested in advance and carry a local charge of $20.00 per day, $140.00 weekly, $420.00 monthly + taxes & surcharges.

Vehicles can be driven in the USA but must not be driven into Mexico. One way rentals to the USA are not permitted.
Off-road restrictions apply.
