Jasper - An Overview

Nestled in the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains in Jasper National Park, Jasper offers some of the most spectacular sights of glistening lakes and glaciers, enchanting wildlife and a charming friendly town.

All of this as well as having one of the best ski mountains that you will ever come across. Jasper National Park is one of the most spectacularly beautiful areas in North America, surrounded by rugged mountain tops and snow capped peaks, carpets of lush green forests and sparkling frozen lakes and waterfalls. The deep valleys mean that there is an abundance of wildlife for you spot too.

 

Slopes for All!

Just 20 minutes from the town of Jasper lies the incredible ski area of Marmot Basin which boasts 1,675 acres of slopes with 3,000 vertical feet of superb skiing and snowboarding with views over Jasper National Park that will take your breath away.

With 86 marked trails, the terrain is varied so the whole family can enjoy the mountain, no matter what level or ability. Beginners can enjoy the long and winding trails, whilst the more experienced skiers and riders, and those looking for a bit more of a challenge can enjoy the steep high alpine chutes and back bowls.

 

 

 

 

Charm

The town of Jasper itself is a quaint and rustic mountain style town, bursting with local charm and a friendly atmosphere that will make it seem like a home from home.

There are a good variety of local restaurants, diners and bars for you to relax in and enjoy some world famous Alberta Steak or local beer, and if you are in the mood for partying there are a few night clubs too!

 

Activities

For occasional or non-skiers, there is a wealth of activities on offer, such as the Maligne Canyon Ice Walk, winter hiking, snowmobiling, dog sledding, and so much more!

Jasper is filled to the brim of fun activities for you to enjoy, and in amongst the most beautiful setting, you are sure to fall head over heels for this region.

 

 

 

High Speed Chair Lifts

New for 2011-12 is the Paradise Express high-speed quad chair, which will move more skiers up the mountain faster than ever before. The new lift will move a whopping 2,400 people per hour, has a vertical rise of 1,345 feet and will carry skiers 1.45 kilometers in only 4.6 minutes!

The triple chair it replaces had a ride time of approximately 8 minutes and a vertical rise of only 1100 feet.

The School House Chair will be located in the lower mountain and will service novice ski runs, vastly improving the learning experience for those new to skiing and snowboarding – making Marmot Basin an even better resort for all!
