Frequently Asked Questions about Canada holidays
British Citizens, British Overseas Citizens (who are re-admissible to the UK), British Subjects and British Dependant Territories Citizens do not require a visa to go on a holiday to Canada. Anyone unsure about their status can look at the personal data page of their passport, which will be noted under 'Nationality'.
All British citizens and anyone who does not require a visa will need to get an eTA (electronic travel authorisation) document to enter Canada. eTA is an entry requirement for visa-exempt foreign nationals travelling to Canada by air. It allows Canada to screen travellers before they arrive. You can find out more about an eTA here.
British holidaymakers who have a valid eTA can stay for up to six months in Canada, and you can travel to the country as often as you want for short stays. Anyone who wants to stay for longer than their authorised stay can apply for an extension at least 30 days before the authorised end of their stay.
