Toronto Holidays

A vibrant multicultural city

Overview

Toronto is Canada's east coast wonder city. Canada’s answer to Manhattan, the young and vibrant city is infectious. Toronto is a top choice for a Canada city break holiday and after just one visit you will want to pack your bags and move here! Located on the shores of Lake Ontario, the easternmost of the Great Lakes, the surrounding Greater Toronto Area is the country’s cultural, financial and entertainment hub. This importance is what makes holidays to Toronto so attractive to people wanting to explore Canadian Culture.

When to go to Toronto?

We know it sounds cliched, but Toronto really is perfect at any time of year. In the springtime, the vibrant city is very pretty as the blossoms in the parks start to appear. Toronto’s summers are gloriously warm and some of the very best events happen at this time of year. In autumn, Toronto is cooler and quieter and you may get a cheaper Canada holiday as flight prices tend to drop after the summer. In the winter, Toronto really gets into the festive spirit with plenty of Christmas and holiday themed events and activities to try.

Toronto’s culture and entertainment

Canada's largest city is buzzing and fast paced, alive with fun and excitement making for a very enjoyable holiday in Canada. When we think of Toronto, we think of two things: shopping and food. Toronto offers one of the best shopping areas in the world, so whether you are planning a shopping trip with friends or just want to squeeze in some retail therapy during your family getaway, the Eaton Centre should definitely be number one on your list. Yorkville and trendy Queen Street are also great shopping spots - one of many reasons our Toronto holidays are so popular!

Food and drinks

The St Lawrence Market is definitely worth a visit for all 'foodies', home to vendors, merchants and artisans for over 200 years. 'Greasy spoon' diners are big in Toronto culture, and The Patrician Grill on King St East is an old local classic, perfect for breakfast. The House, on Parliament in Cabbage Town, is a real local's neighbourhood place with eclectic staples and a British feel. Their quirky, homemade menu is ideal for casual but delicious dining.

Nearby attractions

The perfect add-on to any Toronto holiday is a trip to Niagara Falls - the world-famous, thundering natural wonder. The falls are an easy 80 minute drive or transfer from downtown, so you can visit for a day trip with our Toronto car hire or choose to stay for a night in a in a stylish Niagara Falls hotel. If your budget allows, we always recommend upgrading to a falls view room so you can enjoy the spectacular view right from your window. Lit up in amazing colours at night, make sure it is the first and last sight that you see each day.

With the incredible mix of nationalities and cultures, of course hand in hand comes incredible cuisine! If you are in the mood for amazing Chinese food then look no further than Chinatown, where you will find exotic restaurants, grocery stores and fruit stands lining the colourful neighbourhood. A trip to the famous St. Lawrence Market is an absolute must, and make sure that you visit with an appetite! The market is a bustling food Mecca located right in the heart of the downtown district, and the perfect way to spend an afternoon. There are so many delicious delicacies to try such as a legendary Veal Parmigiana Sandwich at Uno Mustachio, so huge it is big enough for two! Or a world famous Peameal Bacon on a Bun at Carousel Bakery, so tasty it has been raved about by many celebrities around the world. And make sure that you leave room for some incredible fresh Boston Blue Fish & Chips at Buster's Sea Cove, but you will have to join the queue as they are so popular!

What better way to work off some of your indulgencies than with a bit of cardio... best done by walking around the amazing shopping areas of the city! First stop must be the Eaton Centre with floor upon floor of designer boutiques and all of your favourite labels. If it is trendy boutiques you are after then head to quirky Yorkville or Queen Street. There are so many excellent shopping areas for you to explore, you won't have time for them all! The amazing shopping makes Toronto a top shopping break destination

Niagara Falls is just a short and easy 90-minute drive or transfer from Toronto, so a trip to the legendary sight fits perfectly with any Toronto city break holiday. Whether you choose to visit as a day trip or for a few nights break from the city, you are in for a treat. The Falls themselves are incredible, and will take your breath away the first time you lay eyes on them!
