Fly to Anchorage
On arrival to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, transfer independently to your hotel. Nestled between the Chugach Mountains and Cook Inlet, Anchorage offers a perfect blend of outdoor adventure, wildlife encounters, cultural heritage, and modern amenities. Whether you are looking for glacier hikes, northern lights views or indigenous art, this vibrant city is your ideal place to start your holiday. Tonight, you will stay at The Lakefront Anchorage perfectly located between the airport and downtown, which is set on the shore of Lake Spenard next to Lake Hood and is the only hotel in Anchorage that is located on a lake.

HX Hurtigruten Expeditions
Today you will set out on a scenic journey to Seward. This drive takes you through the breathtaking landscapes of the Kenai Peninsula, renowned by both locals and travellers as some of the most stunning wilderness in the world. As you make your way to the Pacific coast, you will enjoy panoramic views before reaching the port, where your expedition ship awaits. Seward serves as HX’s embarkation point and is notable for being Alaska’s only deep-water, ice-free port with access by road, rail, and air to the interior. Once aboard, you will find your cabin and have time to explore the ship’s modern and comfortable facilities. *This is a sample itinerary that may vary by sailing date.

Prince William Sound
Today is dedicated to exploring the majestic world of glaciers. Prince William Sound boasts around 150 glaciers, including 17 remarkable tidewater glaciers that flow directly into the sea. The captain will select the most optimal location for the day based on weather and ice conditions. You will venture as close to the glaciers as safety allows, using the small expedition boats to navigate the fjords — and if conditions are favourable, you may even set out by kayak. While on the water, keep an eye out for the incredible wildlife that thrives in this frozen environment, including humpback whales, bald eagles, sea otters, and harbour seals.

Icy Bay
Today is all about discovering the natural wonders of Icy Bay. This dramatic bay gets its name from the flow of ice fed by three impressive glaciers: Guyot, Yahtse, and Tyndall. If conditions are favourable, you will venture out in small expedition boats or by kayak, offering a close-up experience of this stunning glacial environment. From the bay, you will have the chance to take in views of the towering Mt. St. Elias. Known for its dramatic rise from sea level, it stands as the second-highest peak in the United States and the third highest in North America. As you sail through the Gulf of Alaska, keep watch as this area is home to wildlife often spotted in these rich coastal waters.

Icy Strait
Today offers another exciting opportunity for exploration as you enter Icy Strait and navigate among its scattered islands and islets. You will use the expedition boats to get closer to the rugged shoreline, and if conditions permit, you may go ashore for a nature walk. As you near the open ocean, the coastline becomes increasingly dramatic, with rocky outcrops and sea caves shaping the landscape. Later in the day, you will sail past Point Adolphus, which is renowned for its rich marine life, especially humpback whales drawn to its nutrient-dense waters so don’t forget to step out on deck with your camera ready.

Haines
Located near the head of Lynn Canal, the historic town of Haines was originally the homeland of the Chilkat Łingít people. Famed for their masterful weaving, they crafted detailed designs using mountain goat wool and cedar bark and you will find outstanding examples of this traditional artistry here. Today, Haines is also home to a vibrant arts community, with galleries and studios featuring totem pole carvings, silver jewellery, and unique sculptures. Purchasing local art is a meaningful way to support Alaskan artisans. Surrounded by stunning scenery, the area also offers excellent opportunities for hiking and spotting wildlife.

Southeast Alaska
Experience Alaska in true expedition fashion as you venture into a remote and enchanting part of the Inside Passage. This region is characterised by ancient, old-growth forests teeming with wildlife and offering an immersive sense of untouched wilderness. Weather and conditions allowing, you will set out in small expedition boats to explore hidden coves and densely wooded coastlines. Keep your eyes open for some of Alaska’s most iconic animals from bears and moose to Sitka black-tailed deer and soaring bald eagles. If it is safe and feasible, you may also step ashore to explore the landscape on foot.

Tracy Arm or Endicott Arm
Holkham Bay features two spectacular fjords: Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm. Today’s plan is to explore one of them, depending on ice conditions at the time. The captain will choose the route that offers the best experience for the day, but whichever fjord you enter, you can expect dramatic landscapes and excellent wildlife viewing. At the head of each fjord, massive glaciers release freshly calved icebergs into the water, set against a striking backdrop of steep cliffs. This region is a known breeding area for harbour seals, often seen resting on the ice. Keep your eyes peeled, you may also spot whales, bears, or even mountain goats navigating the rocky terrain.

Chatham Strait
Begin your day scanning the unspoiled waters of Frederick Sound for signs of whales. Today is dedicated to exploration, with the captain and the expedition team selecting the most rewarding destination based on conditions. You may venture out in small expedition boats to explore the hidden coves and lush, forest-lined shores of the 150-mile-long Chatham Strait. If weather and sea conditions allow, there may also be a chance to go kayaking. No matter where you head, keep your eyes open, this region is home to bald eagles, bears, and humpback whales, all waiting to be spotted.

Klawock
Today’s journey takes you to Klawock, a charming town on the western coast of Prince of Wales Island. Home to a close-knit community of around 700 residents, Klawock is especially known for its impressive collection of totem poles. As a cultural hub for the Łingít people, the island was originally called Taan, meaning "sea lion." At Klawock Totem Park, you will find 21 beautifully crafted totem poles, including replicas of those that once stood in the historic winter village of Tuxecan.

Misty Fjords
Nestled within Tongass National Forest, Misty Fjords offers an untouched wilderness filled with towering evergreens, cascading waterfalls, and majestic snow-covered mountains. Weather permitting, you will have the chance to join the expedition team for a tour of Misty Fjords aboard small expedition boats or by kayak. This area is teeming with wildlife. As you explore, keep an eye out along the shoreline and in the forests for black and brown bears, as well as moose. The surrounding waters support Pacific salmon, otters, Steller sea lions, harbour seals, orcas, and Dall’s porpoises. Above, you may spot herons and bald eagles soaring overhead.

Canada’s Inside Passage
The Inside Passage route winds through the vast North American Pacific Fjord land, a safeguarded waterway stretching over 930 miles. Thanks to the smaller expedition ship, you can access remote channels that larger ships cannot reach, allowing you to discover more secluded and spectacular landscapes. Keep your cameras and binoculars handy for sightings of whales such as humpbacks, fins, minkes, and possibly orcas. While cruising Princess Royal Channel, be on the lookout for the rare and elusive Kermode Bear.

Alert Bay
You will arrive at Alert Bay, a picturesque village located on Cormorant Island, just north of Vancouver Island. Here, you will have the special opportunity to engage with the Kwakwaka’wakw First Nations community, being welcomed by them is truly an honour. At the U'mista Cultural Center, you will find an impressive collection of totem poles, paintings, carvings, ceremonial masks, and other culturally significant artifacts. The island’s calm waters support a rich variety of wildlife. One standout species is the Yellow-billed Loon, recognizable by its speckled back. Keep your eyes peeled for orcas and humpback whales that are often seen close to shore.

Vancouver
Your expedition concludes in Vancouver, a vibrant city nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountains that blends urban sophistication with natural beauty. For a relaxed West Coast luxury, spend the night at the Fairmont Waterfront. Perfectly located across from Canada Place, this property is rooted in a sustainable travel philosophy offering a rooftop garden with bee hives, where honey, herbs, fruits and vegetables are harvested. These ingredients can then be found in the handcrafted food and cocktails served at its restaurant and bar. Vancouver boasts a unique character reflected in its diverse culinary scene, so we suggest dining in neighbourhoods like Chinatown.

Fly Home
Enjoy a final day of shopping and sightseeing before making your way back to the airport. Take time to explore the historic charm of Gastown, Vancouver’s Victorian district, browse the boutiques of Granville Island or enjoy a stroll along the scenic seawall in Stanley Park, where you can soak in city views alongside glimpses of the natural beauty experienced throughout your journey. Whether you are into art, adventure or simply soaking up laidback coastal vibes, Vancouver will keep you entertained.
