Adventure in the Land of the Caribou Itinerary

Day 1

Arrive st-félicien zoo
You will arrive at the Zoo Sauvage de St Felicien independently in the morning and will be warmly welcomed by your guide. Your adventure begins with an extraordinary multisensory film that will stimulate your sense of smell and touch. Your guide will direct you to a train ride to Settlers’ Farm where a traditional meal will be served for lunch before returning back to the Nature trail via minibus. You will also have the opportunity to walk a 2km on an easy trail in the land of the caribou and the moose while enjoying an ecological interpretation of their habitat. Your guide will also introduce you to the local boreal plant and wildlife and show you how to track caribou and moose. Enjoy a sunset canoe excursion on Lake Montagnais to observe moose, caribou, musk oxen and black bears, followed by a hearty campfire dinner. Spend the night in a Prospector’s tent at St. Félicien Zoo. Lunch, snack and dinner included.

Day 2

End of package
This morning you’ll learn about orienteering, continue to enjoy the Nature Trail Park from the minibus, assist in the feeding of the polar bears and visit their night quarters. After lunch you will visit some “behind-the-scene” sections of the zoo like the keeper’s kitchen and the veterinary clinic. After your guide departs, you can enjoy a large screen movie at the Borealium (45 min long) or take time to further explore the zoo on your own before your independent departure. Breakfast and lunch included.

How to get there by car:

Zoo de St Felecien is just under 4hrs from Quebec City. Follow Highway 175 North to Highway 169. Take Highway169 through the Lac St. Jean area until you reach St. Félicien.
