What sporting equipment/other objects can I take and is there a charge?

Please note that due to health and safety regulations no single item of luggage can weigh more than 32kg.

Pushchairs and Cots
Air Transat will carry one pushchair/pram and a car seat free of charge. Pushchairs can be put in the hold at the boarding gate. Any other equipment will be counted as part of the luggage allowance. Please note on landing your pushchair/pram will be delivered to you at the luggage carousel.

Golf equipment
Golf equipment consists of one golf bag, 14 clubs, 12 golf balls and one pair of golf shoes. Standard baggage fees apply and you can prepay and preregister up to 72 hours prior to departure. There is an overweight fee of £65. No oversized fee applicable. Please check Air Transat's standard baggage policy for more details on maximum weight and size.

Bicycles
Air Transat charge a £65 fee each way on all destinations, for each transported bicycle. An oversized plastic bag is included in the £65 handling fee, available at the Air Transat check-in counter. For groups of 10 passengers or more who are travelling with bicycles please contact us in advance as alternative arrangements may be required and additional fees may apply.

Fishing Equipment
Air Transat – one free bag (rods & tackle etc) up to 20kgs weight will be allowed free of charge. Note: Tackle boxes and rod bag must be carried in the hold of the aircraft. Under no circumstances may live maggots or other live bait be carried.

Diving Equipment 

Air Transat will allow you to carry Diving Equipment as stipulated below:.

Place your skis or snowboard and poles in a ski or snowboard bag and your boots in a separate bag.

Wheelchairs
Wet cell batteries for mobility aids are no longer accepted for carriage on Air Transat aircrafts. Passengers will still be allowed to transport both gel cell & dry cell batteries for use with mobility aids. For all batteries passengers must advise us at the time of check-in of their presence. Air Transat -Wheelchairs may be carried in the hold at no extra charge. Carriage of battery-powered wheelchairs must be arranged in advance of travel and this is subject to stringent safety regulations.

Canoe or Kayak
Not accepted at check-in counters. These items must be shipped via cargo only. Transportation charges apply. Air Transat Cargo department can be contacted on : 01784 431 831 or 01784 431 123 for more details.

Kitesurfs / Kit Board Air Transat - One free bag weighing up to 10kgs, additional weight will be charged at normal excess baggage charges.

Camping Equipment 1 tent, 2 sleeping bags, camping gear, Maximum 20 kg (44 lb), Free within size, piece and weight limits, excess charges apply when free sporting equipment allowance (size/piece/weight) is exceeded. See details under Checked baggage. Only new stoves (or heating elements) and empty (new) canisters that have never contained any flammable liquid will be accepted. No fuel is allowed. For more information on the transport of other camping items, please refer to dangerous goods.

Paragliders
Air Transat - subject to excess fees if over free baggage allowance.

Windsurfs / Surfboards
Air Transat - charge GBP £65 / CAD $100 All windsurfs must be packed in their standard carrying bag and the mast must be securely attached. The ‘fin’ must be removed and boards of a honeycomb construction must have the drain plug(s) removed. Passengers should arrive early at the airport because space in the cargo hold may be limited.

Musical Instruments
Hand Luggage:
Air Transat allow a musical instrument to be carried as hand luggage as long as it fits within the size and weight dimensions of the carryon luggage allowance (size must be within 23 x 40 x 51 cms and weighing no more than 10 kgs).

Please note that only one piece of hand luggage is allowed. Instruments exceeding this size or weight must be checked-in as hold luggage and will be counted towards your hold luggage allowance.

Checked Luggage:
Musical instruments can be checked in as hold luggage as per baggage conditions for economy and club class luggage allowances. Air Transat operates a 1 piece allowance per person travelling in economy and 2 pieces of luggage per person for Option Plus & Club passengers. If the musical instrument exceeds the free baggage allowance for your destination (size, piece, weight), excess baggage charges will apply. The Instrument must be packed in a rigid case.

Animals
Air Transat:  Only cats and dogs are accepted as animals for carriage in the checked baggage hold on flights from the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland to Canada. All other animals are refused on all Air Transat flights. Passengers must be in possession of all animal-related documents required by the country of destination (call for details of what you need to do).

To United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, cats and dogs will be accepted as cargo only on Air Transat flights – advance arrangements are required and additional fees apply. Please contact Air Transat Cargo 01784 431 831 / 01784 431 123 for more information.

Service animals: The United Kingdom will only allow entry through certain airports and extensive pre-flight arrangements and paperwork must be completed well before the intended date of travel (months before in some cases). Please contact Air Transat for more information.

Flammable liquids and solids (such as flammable aerosols, lighting or heating fuels, matches, paint thinners, fire lighters)
Oxidising materials (such as bleaching powder, peroxides)
Poisons and infectious substances (such as insecticides, weed killer and live virus materials)
Radioactive materials
• Other restricted articles (such as magnetic material, offensive and pornographic materials)

All other sporting equipment/special items not listed above will be charged the applicable excess baggage charges.
