Coal Harbour / Waterfront

Downtown Vancouver At Dusk

This is the place to stay if you’re catching a cruise. Located right by the cruise terminal, you couldn’t be any closer to the heart of downtown than this little section of the waterfront, but it’s a surprisingly chilled area. It starts at Canada Place – where cruises depart – and stretches over to Stanley Park. There’s plenty of seawall to walk along and it’s very easy to catch a hop-on, hop-off bus from the waterfront or stroll into the shopping district.

If you’re in Vancouver before or after a cruise, these hotels are ideal for Canada Place:

Pan PacificFrom £71pp
A hotel which feels like a luxury liner, located on Vancouver’s waterfront and right on the cruise terminal.

Fairmont Pacific RimFrom £159pp
A stylish, luxurious hotel overlooking Vancouver Harbour.

Fairmont Waterfront From £133pp
This luxury hotel sits right at Canada Place and has a contemporary but cosy feel.

Gastown

gastown

Vancouver’s oldest neighbourhood is growing increasingly popular with young folks. Aside from its iconic steam clock, it now has some of the best restaurants in Vancouver. On top of stylish culinary spots, it’s bursting with bars and clubs too, making it a lively place to stay. Historic brick buildings mingle with wine bars and boutique shops and you can easily walk from here to the Waterfront or Granville Street.

Delta Hotels by Marriott Vancouver Suites – From £62pp
This smart and contemporary hotel has a great location in downtown, close to the waterfront and the charming neighbourhood of Gastown.

Yaletown

yaletown false creek

This upscale area is situated along a lovely section of seawall with ocean views. There are some great pubs and bars in this area so you’ll have plenty to do while you stay here. Plus, it’s convenient for a host of other trips and tours, too. There is a Skytrain station nearby, it’s handy for seeing a game at the stadium and you can catch an Aquabus from here to Granville Island. It certainly is the chicest section of False Creek.

OPUS Hotel – From £96pp
This lovely, boutique-style hotel is set right in the heart of the trendy downtown district of Yaletown.

West End

Bikes at Thrid Beach, Vancouver, Canada.

The West End is the place to stay if you want a taste of how Vancouverites live. This diverse area is packed with dining and has the nightlife of Davie Village, but it’s natural spaces are the real draw. It is a gateway to Stanley Park and borders the lovely English Bay with its sandy beach. Denman Street is a great spot for restaurants, cafes and brewpubs. You can hire a bike from here and go for a sightseeing cycle along the seawall.

Best Western Plus Sands Hotel – From £36pp
Just steps from the Pacific Ocean at the beautiful English Bay, this is in a great position for your Vancouver stay.

Davie Village

In the heart of downtown’s West End is this rainbow-coloured neighbourhood. If you’re looking for somewhere vibrant, chilled out, fun and with a thriving LGBTQ community, this is the place for you. Filled with pubs, clubs and nightlife, there is plenty going on. Where Davie Street and Bute Street intersect you’ll find the iconic rainbow crosswalk. There are plenty of budget dining options here including a lot of great Greek restaurants, and it’s an easy walk to the rest of the West End.
