Your day-to-day plan
Toronto
On arrival to Toronto Pearson International Airport, transfer independently to your hotel before spending the evening at the harbourfront, with its many restaurants offering lovely views over the water. The next day is yours to explore the city and all the attractions it has to offer such as the Toronto Islands, the CN Tower, Ripley's Aquarium of Canada, the St Lawrence Market and many more.
Niagara Falls
Pick up your hire car and make the short drive to the iconic Niagara Falls. Get up close and personal to the falls at Table Rock before taking a Journey To The Falls with Niagara City Cruises. Downstream from the falls is Niagara Gorge, where waters surge through to create grade 6 rapids, best viewed from the White Water Walk.
Niagara Peninsula
Depart in the morning for Niagara-on-the-Lake, the tree lined old town features well preserved 19th century buildings and is a picturesque stop for a hearty breakfast. Drive along the Niagara Peninsula and visit one of the many wineries that call the region home for a tasting and a bottle to enjoy in the evening. Make a stop at the village of Elora, voted as the most beautiful village in Ontario, to stroll the historic centre, with its boutique shops and cafes, and enjoy view down the Elora Gorge before arriving at Blue Mountain.
Blue Mountain
You have a free day at Blue Mountain to spend time walking or cycling the many trails that surround the resort. We recommend riding the gondola for panoramic views over Georgian Bay. Blue Mountain's lively pedestrianised village features many restaurants, lively bars and small boutiques and hosts festivals all year round.
Muskoka Lakes
Journey north, taking time to explore the Muskoka Lakes region, starting at Gravenhurst to cruise on Lake Muskoka on a historic steamship and then take an easy hike through Hardy Lake Provincial Park. Port Carling is an ideal place to stop for lunch with its waterfront restaurants before arriving at Huntsville, the historic gateway to the Algonquin Provincial Park.
Algonquin Provincial Park
Spend the day exploring the Algonquin Provincial Park, a haven for hiking and canoeing. Recommended hikes include the Spruce Bog Boardwalk Trail, taking you through a number of different ecosystems and the Lookout Trail, a short moderate hike that takes you took a spectacular lookout over a vast expanse of forest and lakes. Hire a canoe from Algonquin Outfitters at either Opeongo or Oxtongue Lake to see this spectacular landscape from the water.
Ottawa
Travel to Ottawa, Canada’s capital and one of its most dynamic and exciting cities with a myriad of landmarks, museums, galleries, and restaurants. You have a free day to explore Ottawa’s most visited attraction; Parliament Hill, which is the seat of Canada’s federal government and then discover the Rideau Canal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The canal still operates to this day along its original route and with most of its original structures.
Montréal
Its only a short drive to Montréal, giving you time to explore the city and the attractions it has to offer. There is no better place to start than in the historic Old Town, home to the Notre-Dame Basilica, which is one of the most beautiful Catholic churches in Canada. For art lovers, Montréal’s Museum of Fine Arts is a must visit, with centuries' worth of paintings, sculptures, and more on display.
Holland America Line
Your ship awaits… but it doesn’t depart until the early evening so spend a final morning exploring Montréal! Marché Jean-Talon is full of merchants selling fresh fruit, vegetables, flowers and baked goods, and locally owned delis and cafe-restaurants serving delicious fresh food. It’s the ideal place to grab a Montréal Smoked Meat sandwich. Board your cruise to the Canadian Maritimes with Holland America Line.
*This is a sample itinerary that may vary by sailing date.
Québec City
Few places in North America are as steeped in history as Québec City, it is the only city north of Mexico whose original fortifications remain intact. The Québec City historic district, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is still home to religious orders and hospitals that date back to the 17th century. Join a walking tour to explore the old city or perhaps an excursion to nearby Montmorency Falls.
Gulf of St Lawrence
Enjoy a day at sea as you cruise into the Gulf of St Lawrence. Be on the lookout for marine wildlife as this is one of the best places in the world to observe whales. Spend time to explore onboard, with their perfectly sized ships, the Holland America Line experience is one of space and calm, whilst also boasting a wide range of activities and facilities.
Cap-aux-Meules
Enjoy a morning at Cap-aux-Meules in the heart of the wind-swept Magdalen Islands. Stroll the Coastal Trail, an easy paved walking trail along the water and climb the 185 steps at Chemin Du Quai for stunning views over the archipelago. Or join a tour to the island's north coast to witness a series of spectacularly steep and jagged cliffs, and the Cap-Hérissé Lighthouse perched precariously on an eroding coastline.
Halifax
Located on a rocky inlet on the Atlantic Ocean, Halifax—Nova Scotia’s provincial capital—is defined by its maritime geography. It's a spirited mix of world-class history and nautical-themed museums alongside bunkers and fortresses built to guard the harbour, plus striking public art and sights, funky shops and excellent pubs serving up folk music (and good pints).
Saint John
Saint John, on the southern coast of New Brunswick, is Canada’s oldest incorporated city as well as the only city on the Bay of Fundy. Join a tour and witness the effects of the extreme high and low tides of the Bay of Fundy where time and tides have carved echoing caves in the sandstone cliffs. Back in Saint John, visit the Old City Market to see the freshest seafood, farm produce, crafts and collectibles on sale.
Eastport
Visit Eastport, Maine and immerse yourself in the quintessential charm of New England. This picturesque port, known for its vibrant arts scene and maritime heritage, offers a warm welcome, fresh local seafood, scenic vistas, and a laid-back atmosphere. A popular excursion here is cruising Eastport Harbor on a working Lobster Boat to learn more about the primary activity of Maine's commercial fisheries.
Fly Home
Disembark your cruise in Boston, Massachusetts. Spend time exploring the historic downtown, with every step on the cobblestone paths, the echoes of America's past blend with the vibrant rhythms of contemporary city life. Transfer independently to Boston Logan International Airport in time for your flight home.
