The first moment you see a grizzly bear in the wild is a memory that will stay with you forever. Stay at the Knight Inlet Lodge, a floating lodge tucked into Glendale Cove, in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest and is one of the best places in the world to view grizzly bears in their natural environment. The unique habitat around the lodge means you can view bears from May to October with bear tours by boat taking place in the spring and summer and on a viewing platform in the fall. On this fly drive holiday you will also stay in Ucluelet, the perfect base to explore the Pacific Rim National Park, and the vibrant coastal cities of Vancouver and Victoria where fine dnining and cultural attractions await.

Vancouver
Arrive at Vancouver International Airport and transfer independently to your downtown hotel. The next days is yours to explore this enchanting coastal city. Take a stroll round Stanley Park, head over to Granville Island to discover a world of food, art and culture or take a shuttle bus over to the North Shore and the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge, hanging 70 metres over the Capilano River.
Campbell River
Pick up your hire car from downtown Vancouver and take the BC Ferries from nearby Horseshoe Bay over the Strait of Georgia to Nanaimo. Enjoy a leisurely drive up the east coast of Vancouver Island. We recommend making a stop at Qualicum Beach for a stroll along the beach and lunch overlooking the ocean.
Knight Inlet Lodge
After a transfer from your hotel to the floatplane base, you will take a scenic 45 minute flight by floatplane to Knight Inlet Lodge. Once settled in at the lodge, and following a brief orientation, you will embark on a small boat excursion in the estuary. Two 2-hour tours follow in the afternoon; one of these tours is a bear viewing tour (by boat in the spring and summer and on a viewing platform in the fall), and the other will be a Knight Inlet sightseeing cruise. You will be accompanied on all excursions by a knowledgeable guide trained in the local wildlife and natural history of the area. In the evening relax in the lounge while enjoying an interpretive presentation by one of the guides.
Knight Inlet Lodge
The adventure continues with a second full day at Knight Inlet Lodge. Participate in an extra bear viewing tour before choosing from an array of optional excursions such as a walking tour through the pristine Kwalate valley of an interpretative wildlife tracking tour. In the evening, enjoy another sumptious meal, served with local fine wines.
Ucluelet
On your day of departure you’ll have the opportunity to go on a final bear viewing boat excursion before your return transfer to Campbell River by floatplane, Back in your hire car, journey across the stunning mountainous interior of Vancouver Island to the relaxed resort of Ucluelet, situated on the Pacific Coast. You have a free day to explore the Pacific Rim National Park with it's forested trails and windswept beaches.
Victoria
Head back across Vancouver Island and down to Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia. The next day you are free to explore so take a stroll round the harbour, which is lined with historic buildings such as the BC Parliament Building, head over to Fisherman’s Wharf for a fresh seafood lunch or join a whale watching tour and go in search of BC's resident orcas.
Fly Home
It may be the last day of your holiday, but there are still adventures to be had. Pay a visit to the stunning Butchart Gardens before catching the BC Ferries from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen. From here it's a short drive to Vancouver International Airport to drop off your hire car ready for your flight home.
