Campground Types

Travel with peace of mind and allow us to pre-book every campsite along your route. Our curated stops balance the best of both worlds, ranging from rugged, back-to-nature provincial and national parks to full-amenity luxury RV resorts allowing you to enjoy an authentic Canadian motorhome holiday. We recommend a mix of campgrounds to ensure you get to experience the Canadian wilderness whilst also having access to facilities at points along the way.

Public Campgrounds

The campgrounds are situated mainly in National / Provincial Parks, allowing you to stay in the pristine Canadian wilderness, and are often close to lakes and forest trails. They generally offer larger sites that afford more privacy but as a trade-off may come with no or partial hookups (to water, electricity and/or waste disposal) so make sure you are fully stocked up before you arrive.

Private Campgrounds

Whilst these may be located mostly outside of National / Provincial Parks, many private campgrounds still make the most of the beautiful Canadian outdoors. You may be closer to civilization but that means being close to activities such as canoe rentals, or wildlife tours. The majority of private campgrounds will offer full or partial hookups (to water, electricity and/or waste disposal) and many will offer more amenities such as laundry facilities, pool, store, showers, playground, WiFi, cell phone reception, etc.

No / Partial / Full Hook-up

Campgrounds will often class themselves as either no, partial, or full hook-up. But what does that mean? Amenities you may find at your campsite may include: water, electricity, and waste disposal. A ‘no hook-up’ campsite will have none of those amenities, a ‘full hook-up’ campsite will have them all and a ‘partial hook-up’ campsite will have 1 or 2. Given that ‘no hook-up’ campsites are typically located in the idyllic Canadian wilderness, we recommend having a mix of campsite in order to get that authentic motorhome experience.

West Coast

Riverside Resort, Whistler

Located on forty acres on the banks of Fitzsimmons Creek, Riverside Resort is surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains yet is only minutes away from all the action and excitement that Whistler has to offer.

Ucluelet Campground, Ucluelet

Located on the beautiful west coast of Vancouver Island in Ucluelet BC, campsites are spread over 15 acres that range from harbour and mountain views to semi-private forested sites. The town of Ucluelet is a short walk away and is the departure point for whale watching tours and kayak trips.

Rockies

Whistlers Campground, Jasper

On the outskirts of Jasper, this modern campground includes amenities such as hot and cold running water and full hook-up sites for RVs along with picnic tables and fire pits at every site. A walking trail from the campground follows the Athabasca River into town and it is also serviced by local transit in the tourist season.

Tunnel Mountain Village, Banff

Surrounded by mountains, Tunnel Mountain Village offer no or partial hook-ups in a scenic location. Onsite amenities include flush toilets, drinking water, showers and fire pits. Walking and cycle trails lead to town, Bow Falls and the Hoodoos Viewpoint.

Eastern Canada

Canisbay Lake Campground, Algonquin Provincial Park

In the heart of Algonquin Provincial Park, Canisbay Lake Campground offers a range of amenities including a comfort station with flush toilets, showers, and laundry services. Enjoy the walking trails that surround the campground and the sandy beach on Canisbay Lake.

Killbear Provincial Park, Perry Sound

Killbear Provincial Park is a provincial park located on Georgian Bay and offers kilometres of rugged, rocky shoreline mixed with numerous sand beaches, expect beautiful views of windswept pines on rocky islands.

Maritimes

Headquarters Campground, Fundy National Park

Headquarters Campground offers great views of the Bay of Fundy, access to all the services and facilities in the headquarters area and is within walking distance of the Village of Alma. Campsites range from no to full hook-up.

Chéticamp Campground, Chéticamp

Located in Cape Breton Highlands National Park, this is a quiet family campground by the Chéticamp River, with the mountains as a backdrop. The campground offers direct access to 4 of the national parks hiking trails.
