Calgary
On arrival to Calgary International Airport, transfer independently to your airport hotel. The rest of the day is free to explore the city, why not head up the Calgary Tower for views over the prairies and distant Rocky Mountains?
Banff National Park
Pick up your motorhome and after having stocked up on groceries, it’s time to leave the city behind for the great outdoors. Journey to Banff National Park, Canada’s oldest national park is famous for its deep blue lakes and and jagged mountain peaks where you have two full days to explore. Ride the Banff Gondola up to the top of Sulphur Mountain to enjoy incredible views of the 6 mountain ranges that surround the town and stroll the riverside path to the beautiful Bow Falls. Cruise on nearby Lake Minnewanka and spend time relaxing in the thermal waters of the historic Banff Upper Hot Springs, a magical experience that has drawn visitors to Banff since 1886.
Radium Hot Springs
Explore the Kootenay National Park, taking in a hike at Marble Canyon or admiring the views at the confluence of the Kootenay and Simpson Rivers. That evening, relax at Radium Hot Springs, the pools are filled with naturally heated water containing a unique blend of scentless minerals that relax the mind and rejuvenate the body!
Golden
Continue travelling up the Columbia Valley, this region is an important wildlife refuge and is renowned for its birdlife. In the town of Golden, visit the Golden Skybridge, home to Canada’s highest suspension bridges. As you walk 426 feet above an expansive canyon, engulfed by the Columbia Valley, the epic views of the Rocky and Purcell Mountain ranges will take your breath away. If you’re feeling even more adventurous, join a white-water rafting trip down the Kicking Horse River!
Lake Louise
It’s a short but scenic drive to Lake Louise as you pass through the spectacular Yoho National Park. Then take a hike around the cool blue Emerald Lake and stop at the scenic Natural Bridge. In the afternoon explore the iconic Lake Louise. There is plenty to see and do here, so take a canoe out on the lake or hike up to the Lake Agnes Tea House.
Icefields Parkway
Spend the morning at Moraine Lake and hike the short Rockpile Trail and be rewarded with breath-taking views down the Valley of the Ten Peaks. Then travel north on one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. After photo stops at Bow Lake and the iconic Peyto Lake, spend the night at Cline River, located on the shores of Abraham Lake.
Icefields Parkway
Continue on the Icefields Parkway and stop at the Columbia Icefield, one of the most accessible icefields in North America. Here you can ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier before stepping out on to the Glacier Skywalk for unobstructed views of the Sunwapta Valley. Continue north on the Icefields Parkway, making a stop at the Athabasca Falls and at Mt Edith Cavell for a hike on the Path of the Glacier trail to see new growth alpine forest and spectacular views of Mt. Edith Cavell and the Angel Glacier.
Jasper National Park
You have two free days in Jasper to explore the surrounding national park and its majestic scenery. We recommend you book an excursion to nearby Maligne Lake and cruise to Spirit Island, an iconic vista of the Canadian Rockies with distant jagged mountains providing the perfect backdrop. On the outskirts of Jasper and easily reached by local transport are lakes such as Pyramid Lake, where you can hire a canoe, and Lake Annette, with its enticing beach. Look out for wildlife, Jasper is known for the herd of Elk that graze on the outskirts of town.
Rocky Mountain House
Journey through dense forests that hug the eastern slopes of the Rockies into the aspen parkland around Rocky Mountain House. The town has a long history dating to the 18th century with the presence of British and Canadian fur traders and many explorers such as David Thompson, in search for a passage west to the Pacific Ocean. Many travellers used this location as a stop on their way farther west or northwest, just like you today in the 21st century!
Kananaskis
The Kananaskis Valley is a collection of over 10 provincial parks and wildlife reserves. At Boundary Ranch you can explore the valley and its forest on horseback stopping for a BBQ lunch with views towards the surrounding mountains. The Mount Lorette Ponds is a great place for a short and easy lakeside stroll and if the weather is right, you can get pictures of the mountains reflecting in the still waters.
Fly Home
Today your adventure comes to an end, return your motorhome and check in for your flight home.
