Halifax
Welcome to Halifax, Nova Scotia, a city that deftly blends the past with the present. Make your way to the heart of Halifax and explore the city for the remainder of the day. Why not discover the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site or wander on the boardwalk? Enjoy your first fresh seafood of the trip and rest up for the night at your hotel.
Lunenburg
Collect your motorhome and drive along the Lighthouse Route while taking in majestic coastal scenery to the fishing community of Peggy’s Cove and its most photographed lighthouse in the world. Carry on the Lighthouse Route through Western Shore to Martin's River, where an attractive shoreline park offers superb views of the bay and its islands before arriving in Lunenburg. Here, you’ll get a chance to visit two UNESCO world heritage sites; Landscape of Grand Pre and Old Town Lunenburg amongst many other attractions.
Yarmouth
On your way to Yarmouth, explore quaint towns such as Liverpool along with the majestic coastal scenery, until you reach Cape Forchu Lighthouse. The southwestern tip of Nova Scotia is a region renowned for its Acadian roots, colourful fishing villages and towering churches, and of course some of the freshest seafood around. Yarmouth will be your base of this area, great for hiking, fishing, and seafaring adventures, while cultural enthusiasts can discover a bounty of local music, theatre, crafts, museums, galleries, and historic architecture.
Digby
Drive along the shores and admire the Bay of Fundy, world-famous for its extreme tides. The world’s highest tides carve the dramatic cliffs and caves that paint the Bay of Fundy coastline. This area also has its local wine industry and not surprisingly, fresh local seafood, including lobster. It’s a great part of the province to get off the beaten path and find an unexpected discovery. Why not take a Brier Island Whale and Seabird Cruise, where you have a chance to see many species including: Humpbacks, Fin, and the rare and endangered Right Whales, as well as dolphins, porpoises, and seabirds!
Kejimkujik National Park
If you ask a Nova Scotian for advice on a place to get away from it all, a place with lush forests, meandering rivers, and island-dotted lakes, you’ll likely hear the name “Keji” again and again. Kejimkujik National Park is truly a place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the world and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Nova Scotia. Spend the day enjoying all that the national park offers from canoeing to hiking and cycling. The park has an abundance of wildlife to spot as well!
Truro
Today, you are heading to Truro, known as the “Hub of Nova Scotia”. Its historic downtown is thriving with unique shops and dining such as Nova Scotia Emporium or Stanfield's Factory Outlet. On your way, why not make a stop at the Fort Anne National Historic Site and the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens to learn more about the local history? A few minutes from Truro is the Masstown Market where visitors are sure to find a culinary favourite in the onsite bakery, deli, dairy bar, fish market, farm market, fish and chip boat, or cafeteria-style restaurant that serves up local homemade meals. Alternatively, if you are looking for an adventure, book a tidal bore rafting tour!
Antigonish
Leave the Bay of Fundy behind and head to Antigonish, the highland heart of Nova Scotia! Antigonish is a small town, rich in Gaelic history nestled in the northeastern part of the province. The county is full of rolling hills and beautiful farms, surrounded by lovely beaches on its shores. Relax on Pomquet Beach Provincial Park located northeast of Antigonish, with its beautiful dunes and occasional sand bars and be sure to stroll along the boardwalk.
Chéticamp
Welcome to the rugged headlands, sandy beaches, lush green valleys of Nova Scotia. The starting point for your adventure into the Cape Breton Highlands, Chéticamp is a destination point for all ages in all seasons. On your way, make a stop at Inverness Beach where on a clear day you can even catch a view of Prince Edward Island. A busy fishing village in Cape Breton, Chéticamp has a thriving Acadian culture where visitors will often hear the lively sounds of Acadian being spoken. For an authentic experience, make sure to indulge in typical Acadian food whilst trying out local restaurants.
Ingonish
Alive with vibrant culture and bound by its rugged coastline, Cape Breton Island calls out to be explored. Why not explore one of the 26 hiking trails in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park ranging from easy strolls to challenging climbs – all leading to panoramic views of canyons, highlands, and coastlines. Home to the world-renowned Cabot Trail, Cape Breton Island is one of the world's must-see islands. It's natural beauty provides the perfect backdrop for outdoor activities such as golfing, kayaking, hiking, cycling, and whale watching.
Baddeck
Baddeck is situated in the heart of Cape Breton Island, considered to be the beginning and end of the world-famous Cabot Trail. Stretching along the shores of the beautiful Bras d'Or Lakes, Baddeck is a bustling village that maintains its essence as a quaint community. Today, we suggest a scenic hike to a spectacular waterfall in Uisge Bàn Falls Provincial Park, a short drive away from Baddeck. Alternatively, take a step back in time at the Highland Village Museum, or learn about the wonders of invention at the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site.
Liscomb Mills
Continue southbound, passing charming maritime communities. Travel through Port Hawksbury and over the Canso Causeway connecting eastern and western Nova Scotia. Stop at the Canso Island National Historic Site and learn more about this historic fishing ground and how it relates to the Mi’kmaq and early European settlers. Why not stop at the ‘Sherbrooke village’ for a day trip back in time as Nova Scotia’s 19th century heritage is brought to life for visitors of all ages.
Fly Home
On your drive back to the airport, make your way to the Liscomb Game Sanctuary to observe an abundance of wildlife including moose and beaver amongst others. Continue onwards and discover Nova Scotia’s longest white sand beach, stretching for three miles at Martinique Beach Provincial Park and go for a last holiday swim or simply enjoy the scenery. Then follow Marine Drive back to the airport for your return flight home.
