Anchorage
On arrival at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, transfer independently to your hotel. Once settled in explore the city itself. Tax free shopping and plenty of restaurants will keep your day & evening quite busy.
Palmer
Collect your motorhome and make your way pass the townships of Chugiak & Eagle River as you continue north-east to Palmer. Catch a glimpse of Pioneer Peak as you pass through the towering Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains. Knick Glacier should be on your to do list with helicopter tours and dog sledding opportunities.
Denali National Park
Heading further north to Denali National Park will see you drive -through the beautiful Matanuska-Susitna Valley and Denali State Park. Ensure to stop off at the quirky townsite of Talkeetna which has long been the gateway for mountaineers looking to summit Mount Denali. Denali National Park offers six million acres of wildland and North America’s tallest peak Mount Denali. Either drive the road yourself or take one of the many guided options into the park to see its alpine tundra and wildlife.
Fairbanks
As you drive the Parks Highway to Fairbanks your eyes will be treated to incredible forest and mountain landscapes as you drive through the communities of Healy, Nenana and Ester, an old gold mining camp. Fairbanks is a great spot for northern lights viewing or head on a tour to cross the Arctic Circle and explore more of the state’s flora in it's vast wilderness as well as the animals that call the land home.
Glenallen
As you head to Glenallen you will firstly pass the town of North Pole just outside of Fairbanks. Home to North America’s Santa Claus take the opportunity to send home letters with the North Pole post mark or pick up some decorations for your home. Located in the Copper River Basin Glenallen is the gateway to Wrangell St Elias National Park, the largest in the United States. The Copper River itself offers world class salmon fishing as well as hiking, rafting and flightseeing.
Valdez
Enjoy the spectacular drive on the Richardson Highway as the route parallels with the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Enjoy incredible views of the Wrangell Mountains and drive by Worthington Glacier and Keystone Canyon. Valdez offers crashing glaciers and the towering Chugach Mountains which means your stay here will be picture perfect.
Whittier
Independently board the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry to Whittier travelling through the beautiful Prince William Sound. Upon arrival in Whittier be sure to make a stop at the Portage Glacier and the Begich, Boggs Visitor Center which offers exhibits which allow you to walk through a simulated ice cave and view live ice works or even touch an iceberg. Then head over to Seward via the Whittier-Portage tunnel.
Seward
Ensure to partake in a Kenai Fjords cruise to explore this National Park up close and personal. The massive Harding Icefield feeds the 38 glaciers in the park which in turn sculpts the fjords making it a perfect home for many species of marine life. Then drive the beautiful Seward Highway back to Anchorage ensuring to keep an eye out on waterfalls and more marine life.
Fly Home
Today marks the end of your Alaskan adventure. Drop off the motorhome before transferring independently to Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport for your flight home.
