Banff
On arrival to Calgary Internation Airport, a scheduled transfer will take you to Banff, the most famous town of the majestic Rocky Mountains. You will have two free days to explore the many attractions in and around the town. So, relax in the historic Hot Springs, head up Sulphur Mountain on a scenic gondola ride to enjoy incredible views of the 6 surrounding mountain ranges that surround the town or stroll the riverside path to the beautiful Bow Falls. We recommend you make a day trip to Lake Louise, the “Jewel of the Rocky Mountains”.
Icefields Parkway
Travel from Banff to Jasper on one of the most scenic highways in the world, the Icefields Parkway. After a photo stop at Bow Lake, you will stop at the Columbia Icefield, one of the largest accumulations of ice south of the Arctic Circle and one of the most accessible icefields in North America. Here you will ride on an Ice Explorer to the middle of the Athabasca Glacier to learn about its geological features. Lunch is provided at the Columbia Icefield Glacier Discovery Centre. Afterwards, a brief stop will be made at Athabasca Falls before arriving in Jasper in the afternoon
Jasper
Today you have a free day in Jasper to explore the surrounding national park and its majestic scenery. We recommend you book an excursion to nearby Maligne Lake and cruise to Spirit Island, an iconic vista of the Canadian Rockies with distant jagged mountains providing the perfect backdrop. On the outskirts of Jasper and easily reached by local transport are lakes such as Pyramid Lake, where you can hire a canoe, and Lake Annette, with its enticing beach. In the evening take a stroll in downtown Jasper and take your pick from the many different restaurants, bistros, and bars on offer.
Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops
Travel on board the Rocky Mountaineer to Kamloops, in the heart of British Columbia's interior. From inside Rocky Mountaineer's signature glass dome carriages you will see dramatic changes in scenery as you travel over the Yellowhead Pass, past Mount Robson, at 3,954 metres the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies, along banks of the North Thompson River and into the desert-like environment around Kamloops.
Rocky Mountaineer to Vancouver
Step back on-board Rocky Mountaineer as you continue west towards the Pacific Ocean. On today's journey you will see more changes in scenery, from the desert-like environment of the B.C. interior through winding river canyons and past the lush green fields of the Fraser Valley.
Vancouver
The next day is yours to explore the enchanting coastal city of Vancouver. Take a stroll round Stanley Park, head over to Granville Island to discover a world of food, art and culture or take a shuttle bus over to the North Shore and the famous Capilano Suspension Bridge, hanging 70 metres over the Capilano River.
Great Bear Lodge
Fly to Port Hardy on the northern tip of Vancouver Island, where you will meet your representative. You will be assisted with your transfer by seaplane to the Great Bear Lodge. After being shown your private room, it will be time for your first thrilling wildlife viewing session. Treat your taste buds to a fresh gourmet meal for dinner and relax in the lodge’s sitting room or stargaze on its large decks.
Great Bear Lodge
The Great Bear Lodge promotes low-impact ecotourism, using wind and solar power and taking special care not to disturb the bears or their environment. Scheduled morning and afternoon bear viewing sessions coincide with times when the bears are the most active. Accompanied by an experienced wildlife biologist you will observe the bears as they roam freely in their natural habitat as you float by boat through nearby estuaries or watch from specially-designed optimal viewing areas.
Great Bear Lodge
Other possible wildlife sightings: wolves, otters, bald eagles, black bears, pine martins and mink. Daily guided activities such as boat tours and an interpretative rainforest walk are offered between morning and afternoon viewing excursions, followed by a delicious lunch. Guests arriving in fall will also be able to witness thousands of migrating salmon from a series of enclosed blinds and open viewing stands along the river. Watch as the grizzlies hunt for fish in preparation for their coming hibernation.
Port Hardy
Participate in a final bear watching session, a farewell lunch and afternoon activity before being transferred back to Port Hardy by seaplane and a transfer to your post-night hotel.
Vancouver
A scheduled light will take you back to Vancouver where the rest of the day is free to further explore the city. Stroll the historic district of Gastown, which is home to fabulous restaurants, bars, and souvenir shops, take flight at Flyover Canada or join a whale watching tour and go in search of BC's resident orcas.
Fly Home
Your Canadian adventure has come to an end. After some last minute shopping and sightseeing, transfer independently to Vancouver International Airport for your flight home.
