Winnipeg
Fly into Winnipeg Airport and make your own way to your hotel for a restful evening. The remainder of the day is at leisure for you to explore and discover downtown Winnipeg. Make sure to visit the Canadian Museum for Human Rights as it is a must see.
Churchill
After breakfast, a group transfer will take you to the airport for your flight to Churchill. A Lazy Bear Lodge guide will meet you upon arrival at Churchill Airport and escort you to the lodge where you embark on the Cultural and Heritage Tour. This takes you to Churchill and the surrounding area where you will be exploring various historic sites. These include Cape Merry, an outside tour of the polar bear holding facility, the wreckage of the famous plane, “Miss Piggy”, and many other historic sites that make Churchill the town it is today. Afterwards, check in and meet your hosts for the next five days.
Churchill
Today you depart on a full-day Hudson Bay Coastal Tour on the new flagship ‘Matonabee’, the only arctic cruising vessel with underwater viewing windows. You’ll have the opportunity to view the polar bears along the coast of Hudson Bay and other local river estuaries. These magnificent creatures can be seen in these areas, swimming in the water or cooling off on the rocks. A day of fun and learning is complemented by lunch served on board during the tour.
Churchill
After breakfast, you take to the waves again on a 3-hour Beluga Whale Boat Tour in search of the ivory-coloured beluga whales. Also included in the excursion is a walking tour of the historic Prince of Wales Fort, giving you a taste of the region’s past days.
Churchill
Today you may embark on any postponed or optional tours requested that were not able to be taken earlier during your stay due to weather or other factors. Or perhaps independently visit some sites like the Itsanitaq Museum and the Canada Parks Museum as well as unique shops in town and see the authentic Native Art.
Winnipeg
Following your last delicious breakfast at the Lazy Bear Lodge Café. This 3-hour Tundra Tour will allow you to experience the Arctic Crawler™ and take you to explore the beauty of the tundra, the flora and fauna and possibly various wildlife in the comfort of a specially constructed all-terrain vehicle. The lodge shuttle takes you to Churchill Airport for your return flight to Winnipeg. Upon arrival in Winnipeg, you will transfer to Grand Winnipeg Airport Hotel.
Fly Home
After breakfast, check out from your hotel and transfer independently to Winnipeg International for your flight home with a bag full of polar bear and beluga whale memories!
