Fly into the mountains for your day of adventure and have lunch in the field, surrounded by the towering peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Upon your return to the lodge, you can enjoy après adventure refreshments on the deck, a soak in the hot tub or a rejuvenating massage.
Radium Hot Springs
Your time with Canadian Mountain Holidays may have come to end, but your adventures in the Canadian Rockies continue! Travel back to Banff and pick up a hire car and head through the Kootenay National Park, keeping your eyes peeled for the myriad of wildlife that live here. Be sure to stop and marvel as Mother Nature puts on her best face at the Kootenay Valley Viewpoint and at the confluence of the Kootenay and Simpson Rivers. Marble Canyon is an ideal place to stretch your legs and explore the trails that criss-cross over the deep canyon. End the day by relaxing at Radium Hot Springs, the pools are filled with naturally heated water containing a unique blend of scentless minerals that relax the mind and rejuvenate the body!
Fernie
Travel down the Columbia Valley, this region is an important wildlife refuge and is renowned for its birdlife. Make a stop at Fort Steele, a restored 19th-century ‘Wild West’ town offering interactive experiences such as gold panning and stagecoach rides, before joining the Crowsnest Highway and marvel as it weaves its way through the Rocky Mountains. Your destination is the mountain town of Fernie, nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Spend the afternoon strolling the historic downtown, home to artisan bagel shops and craft breweries and the riverside Annex Park where yet more spectacular views await. The next day head to the Fernie Alpine Resort and ride a chairlift up the mountain to enjoy breath-taking views from the Lizard Bowl Observation Deck and a leisurely hike amongst native trees and alpine wildflowers.
Waterton Lakes National Park
Continue east on the Crowsnest Highway, stopping at the thundering Lundbreck Falls and visiting the Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump World Heritage Site which preserves more than 6,000 years of Plains Buffalo and Blackfoot culture. Continue to Waterton Lakes National Park, a lesser visited gem. In this stunning National Park expect to find clear lakes, thundering waterfalls, and mountain vistas. Spend a full day in the park, exploring the many hiking trails, taking a canoe out on Cameron Lake or joining a lake cruise on Waterton Lake.
Fly Home
Your adventures in the Canadian Rocky Mountains have come to an end. Drive back to Calgary International Airport in time to drop off your rental car before catching your flight home.
